2012 Cup Season
Rowland & Stewart Cups in New Year
First round matches on 8 January. (22 December) We have another good showing among our member leagues with 21 teams taking part in state & national cups this season. The cup draws are complete and the schedules are listed on the links below. Participating in the cups this season are teams from the Maryland Major Soccer League, the Mason-Dixon Soccer League, the Washington Premier League and the Cosmopolitan Soccer League of Maryland. Cups Off to Good Start
Rowland Cup 2nd round next in line. (9 January) The weather could not have been better and we got in six 1st round matches played in the Rowland & Stewart Cups plus two on the 2nd round of the Stewart. We are now set for the 2nd round of the Rowland Cup next week. Advancing are Charm City FC, Maryland Bays & Portside FC. The following week will be the Stewart Cup that saw Mundo FC, DMV United & Bushwallers FC go through. Mando Ramos FC & Christos FC have already booked their tickets to the quarterfinals and will meet on 5 February. The month of January will see the two state cups paired down to the semi's and then we kick off national cup qualifiers in February.

Quarterfinals Set
Next Sunday we play the 2nd round of the Stewart Cup. (16 January) We played the 2nd round of the Rowland Cup throughout the state yesterday, Maryland's open competition that was first played in 1914. Eight teams move onto the quarterfinal round that is scheduled for 29 January. Advancing are Baltimore Juniors FC, DMV United, Charm City FC, Young Gunns, Maryland Bays, Christos FC, Portside FC & Mando Ramos FC. We will next complete the 2nd round of the Stewart Cup on Sunday. Then it is back to the Rowland Cup quarterfinals.

Stewart Cup Postponed
Rowland Cup to go as scheduled with some Stewart make up matches. (21 January) We got started off with two good weekends but the winter weather decided to finally show up and put a kink in our schedule. We will stick to the Rowland Cup scheduled that was planned for next Sunday although there will be some field changes. We will also play the postponed Stewart Cup game involving BTPU & Colombia FC and the match between Mundo FC & DC Flames. The remainder of the Stewart Cup 2nd round will be played on 5 February.

Rowland Quarterfinals Time & Fields
Two Stewart Cup games to be played as well. (24 January) The snow last week got us a little off track but the updated schedules are posted at the links below. All four Rowland Cup quarterfinal games will be played at Western Regional Park. Two of the Stewart Cup matches that were called off last Sunday will be played at Montgomery Blair HS. The remainder and one of the quarterfinals to be played the following Sunday.
Afterwards, we kick off the qualifying rounds of the national cups with quarterfinal rounds of the US Open & Amateur Cups. The goal is to reach the finals by mid-March.

Stewart this Weekend
Then we kick off national cup qualifiers. (1 February) It was a bit brisky but a good weekend to play as we got in all four quarterfinal matches of the Rowland Cup. We now have the semifinals set with the first game has the Maryland Bays against Christos FC while the other pits Baltimore Juniors FC with Young Gunns.
We will catch up with the second round of the Stewart Cup this Sunday with games at Western Regional Park and Montgomery Blair HS. Then we move onto quarterfinal rounds of the US Open & Amateur Cups. February will be primarily for national cup qualifiers although we will try to squeeze in state cup rounds if possible.

National Cups Next
Postponed round played, which gets us into Stewart Cup quarterfinals. (6 February) So far, the weather has been good to us as we only lost one weekend of play. Those games were made up yesterday and we have the Stewart Cup down to the quarterfinal round. Advancing were Portside FC, Charm City FC, Maryland Bays and Young Gunns. Mundo FC and Colombia FC had advanced last week while we did play one quarterfinal round with Mando Ramos FC defeating Christos FC to advance to the semifinals.
We now kick off the qualifiers of the national cups with two matches in the US Open Cup and two in the US Amateur Cup. All four will be played at Western Regional Park on Sunday starting at 11:00. The month of February will focus on national cup rounds but we will squeeze in state cup rounds if possible.

3 Out of 4 in Amateur
Open Cup finalists to be determined this weekend. (16 February) We kicked off the Maryland qualifiers of the national cups as we played early rounds of both the US Open and Amateur Cups. Christos FC defeated the Baltimore Kickers 3-1 while Charm City FC handled Juniors United FC 9-1 to advance to the semifinals of the US Open Cup. Christos will meet up with the Maryland Bays in the first semi while the Baltimore Juniors FC will take on Charm City FC. The semifinals will be played this Sunday at Western Regional Park.
In the Amateur Cup, the Baltimore Juniors edged out the Kamikaze Crew 2-1. The other match had the Maryland Bays facing Mando Ramos FC with the Bays shutting out their opponent 2-0.
We are also trying to catch up with postponed matches in the Stewart Cup. This Sunday, we have a quarterfinal game between Mundo FC and Portside FC at Western Regional Park.

Bays & Charm City
Repeat of Last Year's Final
Open Cup final set for 4 March. (20 February) The Maryland qualifiers of the US Open Cup is down to a familiar final two. Charm City FC defeated the Baltimore Juniors FC 3-1 with a first half goal from Scott Zakrowski and second half strikes from Tommy Appel Shumaker and Wiji Jones. Andrew Steonfeld tallied the lone goal for the Juniors. The Maryland Bays took a more difficult route but finished on top with a 2-0 shutout of Christos FC in overtime. Andrew Gillis scored the match winner and Jon Ports finished it off in the final seconds. The Bays defeated Charm City in last season's Maryland final. The two will meet again on 4 March at Western Regional Park.
Mundo FC blanked Portside FC 5-0 to advance to the semifinals of the Stewart Cup. That sets up their matchup against Mando Ramos FC this Sunday. We also have a semifinal of the Rowland Cup featuring Baltimore Juniors FC and Young Gunns. The Amateur Cup wraps things up with a quarterfinal involving Christos FC and Charm City FC and the semifinal between the Maryland Bays and Baltimore Kickers. All four matches will take place at Western Regional Park.
