National Cup Finals

Jerry D's and BFC Energizer's competed in the National Cup Finals that was played at the United German Hungarian Club in Oakford, Pennsylvania.  Unfortunately, both teams came up short.  Jerry D's took an early lead USASA Men's Open Cup semifinal as Joe Koziol took advantage of a defensive error and fed Tim Wittman for the goal.  But the Milwaukee Bavarians of Wisconsin fought back and made took a 2-1 halftime lead.  Jerry D's started off strong in the second half with many opportunities to tie the match but had little luck.  Then on a quick counterattack, it was 3-1 for the Bavarians.  The final score was 4-1.

The BFC Energizer's had difficulty getting the ball into the net as well in their contest against the Detroit Rockers Hawks of Michigan.  After dominating the first half and starting the second with a flurry of shots on their opponents goal, the Hawks put in a goal on a fluke corner kick and took advantage of defense that pushed forward to try to equalize.  In the end, the score sheet left the Energizer's behind 4-0.

Congratulations to all of our teams who competed in the Cups this season, especially to Jerry D's and BFC Energizer's in making the National Finals. Also, congratulations to Camp Springs SC for winning the USASA Veteran's Cup Women's O-40 competition.  Check the USASA National Finals site for a complete breakdown of the finals.  You will need to check each category for the final scores.
