MSSA 1998-1999 Cups

Congratulations to all of the winners and a fine job by all of the participants. The Baltimore Colts FC took the Maryland double, winning the state's open and amateur competition.  Cristos hoisted the Champions Cup.  Jerry D's, AC Hellas, Emerald Soccer, BFC Energizers and BFC Bullets won their respective Maryland qualifiers in the U.S. Amateur Soccer Association national competitions and represented the state in the Region I qualifiers. The BFC Energizers made it to the National Final match, losing to the Colorado Rush from Region IV. The following are the results of the cup finals:

  • Rowland Cup: Baltimore Colts v. Three Brothers SC, 3-2 OT
  • Stewart Cup: Baltimore Colts FC v. Jerry D's, 3-0
  • Champions Cup: Cristos v. Casa Mia SC, 3-0
  • U.S. Open Cup: Jerry D's v. Claddagh Pub SC, 1-0
  • U.S. Amateur Cup: AC Hellas v. Baltimore Colts FC, 7-2
  • U.S. O-30 Cup: Emerald Soccer v. Jerry D's, 2-1
  • U.S. U-20 Cup:
    • Men: BFC Bullets v. Columbia United, 1-0
    • Women: BFC Energizers v. Maryland Phoenix, 1-0
  • U.S. U-23 Cup:
    • Men: Soccer Club of Baltimore
    • Women: Maryland Phoenix

To get a complete breakdown of the draw and the results in each cup, click onto the sites below. We had the following number of participants in each cup: National Open -2; National Amateur -7; National Over-30 -3; National Men U-20 - 2; National Women U-20 - 2; National Men U-23 - 1; National Women U-23 - 1; Rowland Cup - 16; and Stewart Cup - 16. Competitions began in December and after numerous cancellations in January, the majority of rounds were played in February and March. Draws were held after each round of competition. Participants are member clubs of leagues affiliated with the Maryland State Soccer Association.
